Rear Bumper Repair

Material: A.B.S. Plastic
Type of Bond: Chemical

Backed into by a grocery store forklift the bumper split at a weak point.

In order to really strengthen the repair some fiberglass reinforcemnt is used. Especially seeing as this area was weak to begin with this should help make this repair strong.

Preparing the area is important. Always remove any paint or dirt. Scuff up the area to be repaired, a dremel with rotating sandpaper wheel works well. You can also drill holes in close proximity around the damaged area to provide a better way for RR to make a mechanical bond as well as a chemical bond. It's a good idea to get the prepared area wet with the liquid catalyst just before you apply the mixed batch of RR.

A generous amount of RR is built up on the backside of the bumper to provide a strong, secure bond and to prevent the area from splitting again in future when under any stress. Incorporating the fiberglass into the mix gives the extra reinforcement the area needs.

Rapid Repair cures in under 15 minutes so you could easily put the bumper right back on soon after you make the repair and head down to the local auto paint salon!
